1. How is reverse osmosis different from a filtered pitcher or my fridge filter?
Standard filtered pitchers and fridge filters rely mainly on basic carbon filtration, which mostly removes chlorine or bad taste, while a RO system offers multiple stages of advanced filtration that removes many more contaminants, impurities, bad tastes and odours and ensures to deliver you much cleaner, healthier and tastier water.
2. What are the common contaminants removed by a reverse osmosis drinking system?
It removes silt, sand, rust, sediments, TDS, chlorine, chloramine, heavy metals, VOC, bacteria, microorganisms, and other biological contaminants.
3. What are the differences between a Reverse Osmosis system and a Ultrafiltration drinking system?
A Reverse Osmosis system has a filtration precision of 0.1 Nano meters to 1 Nano meters, while a Ultrafiltration system has a filtration precision of 0.01 microns, which will let some of the minerals like Calcium and Magnesium pass, and any contaminants smaller than 0.01 microns will pass say for instance fluoride. When filtrate water, RO does produce waste water while ultrafiltration system does not produce waste water.
4. How often do you need to change filters and their costs?
The filter replacement frequency is mostly depending on the area water quality as well as your household consumption. In general, for a household of 4-5 people in the GTA area, you are probably looking at yearly basis for the carbon filter and 2-3 years for the RO membrane. And great advantage of our whole-home pre-filtration, there is no filter replacement required.
5. Why my RO water is full of many tiny air bubbles?
These bubbles are negative hydroxyl ion oxygen bubbles and are created by the process of ionization and show the NEGATIVE oxidation reduction potential, or the antioxidant power of your water. The higher the -ORP, the more oxygen bubbles you’ll see in your water. The oxygen bubbles quickly dissipate. As blood cells carry oxygen for use throughout your body, those oxygen bubbles are important. The oxygenated water helps increase energy and boosts your immune system. Low levels of oxygen in the blood can result in dizziness, fatigue, and lack of energy.
6. Will I still need a Brita after installing your drinking system?
By using just a carbon filter, Brita filter is mainly designed to filter chemicals that cause the bad taste and minimal contaminants. However, our RO drinking systems filtrates more and thoroughly all contaminants, impurities, heavy metal as well as bacteria that cause harmfulness to your health. Therefore, the Ultrefina RO does all and better job once installed.
